Greetings ~

A train, a buggy and a skiddish horse. A bad combination in the early 1900s. From 1870 through 1910, there were literally thousands of train/buggy accidents. There were several in the Akron, Tallmadge, Hudson areas of Ohio. This is the short story of one such accident. Two young people died, a brother and sister.
Phoebe Taylor, 24 and her 18-year old brother, Dannie Thomas. It took place on a snowy evening, February 6, 1908. Dannie was driving the single horse buggy taking his sister to the streetcar stop and then planned to pick up another sister, Kate. But they never made it.
The angel in the Tallmadge cemetery stands watch over the graves of two young siblings, gone too soon. She marks the spot where Phoebe (Thomas) Taylor, 24, and her brother, Daniel Thomas, 18, were laid to rest following a tragic railroad accident on a snowy night, February 6, 1908.
